Summary

Scope of the contract: Detailed design of the HVAC systems for an industrial warehouse with a whole-air climate control system.

Preparation of the project documentation in question concerning an open-air system.

Key information

Client Name: International Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Company

Project Name: Detailed Design of HVAC Systems for the New Production Department at a Plant in the Province of Varese

Project Period: September–December 2024

Total cost of the project: The total cost of the HVAC system installation work is estimated at approximately €866,000

Buildings involved: The detailed design of the HVAC systems covered a warehouse located in the province of Varese used for the production of essential oils

The project involved the executive detailed of the air conditioning for an industrial warehouse.

In particular, the work began with the final design to implement atechnical optimization and economic. A thorough calculation of the pressure drops of the air distribution and hydraulics sizing all the components of thesystem and producing consequently P&ID.

3D construction drawings using Revit and coordination with Navisworks

The detailed design of the HVAC systems was developed in 3D using the Revit software in collaboration with the designer of the process who, on the other hand, was using Navisworks.

Layout drawings were produced showing the placement of components such as diffusers, batteries, dampers, and control instruments such as temperature probes, differential pressure gauges, and flow meters.

Main Components of the System

The system consisted of the following key components:

  • UTA from outbound and return from 32,500 cubic meters per hour of flow rate;
  • UTA of single-pass from 9,000 cubic meters per hour;
  • UTA in single take from 4,500 cubic meters per hour;
  • Freestanding fireplace 12m;
  • Refrigeration unit 416 kWf air-cooled condensing unit.

Air Distribution, Hydraulic Circuits, and Control System

Theair distribution system had a pressure of over 2,000 Pa of negative pressure , so reinforced spiral ducts. The air distribution system has been equipped with VAV and CAV in order to optimally the pressure in individual rooms.

The hydraulic circuits were designed for chilled water, steam, condensate, and compressed air. In addition to the schematic diagrams, bill of quantities and reports detailing the control system’s regulation logic were also prepared.

Coordination During the Design Phase and Conflict Analysis

In the next phase Enertech Solution also handled coordination during the design and subsequently verify and coordinating for conflicts with electrical systems and fire protection.
